On February 19, Small Business Majority Colorado Director Hunter Nelson testified in support of House Bill 25-1021, legislation that would extend Colorado’s Employee Ownership Tax Credit to Establish or Expand through income tax year 2037. It would also increase the percentage of conversion or expansion costs that are eligible to be claimed for the credit from 50% to 75% beginning in tax year 2026.
On February 19, Small Business Majority Colorado Director Hunter Nelson testified in support of House Bill 25-1090, legislation that would provide greater transparency in pricing of goods, services and property for both consumers and small businesses, including common area maintenance (CAM) fees for small businesses.

She shared the positive impact of Colorado's paid family and medical leave program on both her employees and her business.
On February 18, Small Business Majority Colorado Director Hunter Nelson testified in support of HB25-1011, legislation that would protect Colorado's entrepreneurs, families and childcare small businesses from the negative impacts of an institutional investment entity acquiring a childcare center.
On February 18, Small Business Majority Hunter Nelson testified in support of House Bill 25-1094, legislation that would require Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) to be compensated only through a flat fee on each transaction.
On February 14, Small Business Majority Colorado Director Hunter Nelson submitted written testimony in oppostion to SB25-119, legislation that would repeal the Executive Director of the Department of Early Childhood’s rule-making authority and instead grant it to a school district-controlled board. This change would reduce efficiency, disrupt program stability and limit parent and provider input in the rulemaking process.
On February 14th, Small Business Majority submitted comments in support of the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) proposed rule to encourage faster payments to small business subcontractors and streamline the reporting process for prime contracts. Our comments emphasize the need to hold prime contractors accountable for timely payments to small business subcontractors and to enhance transparency in the federal procurement system, ensuring better access to federal contract opportunities for small businesses.
On February 13, Small Business Majority Public Director Awesta Sarkash submitted written testimony to the Virginia House Subcomittee on Health Professions on SB 826. This legislation would provide much-needed clarity and fairness in Virginia’s occupational licensing laws by ensuring that entrepreneurs with prior convictions are not unfairly denied a license to work in their chosen profession.
On February 11, New York Director Lindsey Vigoda submitted testimony in support of the Fair Pricing Act, which would provide needed relief to thousands of New York small business owners and employees and save up to $1.5billion annually in healthcare spending in the state.
