Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority:

The Senate's passage today of the bipartisan Small Business Jobs Act is a boon for the entire small business community. This bill will help small businesses resume their function as engines of job creation and help rebuild our fractured economy.

This bill addresses one of the fundamental problems facing small businesses‰, big banks are still not lending to them. The lack of loans is one of the main reasons small businesses have been unable to put some of the 15 million unemployed Americans back to work. It also addresses small businesses disproportionate tax burden compared to large businesses by providing $12 billion in tax cuts, and gives tax equity to the 22 million self-employed to help them afford health insurance. Other wide-ranging provisions that will help small businesses include export promotion support and business expansion incentives.

We commend the Senate for its bipartisan show of support for America's 28 million small businesses, and look forward to this bill becoming law. This bill is good not only for small businesses, but for the country as a whole.
