Illinois Healthcare Expert and Small Business Owners Available to Give Small Business Perspective on Affordable Care Act Repeal

For Immediate Release:
Thursday, January 5, 2017

Geraldine Aglipay, Midwest Outreach Manager of Small Business Majority, is available to speak to media about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and how it has helped small business owners. Illinois small business owners are also available to share their personal ACA successes stories.

Who: Small business and economic expert Geraldine Aglipay, Midwest Outreach Manager of Small Business Majority, is available to speak to media about the ways in which small employers have benefited from the Affordable Care Act.

“Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, more Illinois small business owners are able to offer quality, affordable healthcare to their employees than ever before,” Aglipay said. “Before the ACA, small business owners on average paid 18 percent more than their big business counterparts. Since 2010, however, the increase in small business healthcare costs has been at the lowest level in years. What’s more, 28 percent the 22 million self-employed Americans were uninsured before the ACA—many because of pre-existing conditions. Now those entrepreneurs can obtain quality, affordable health coverage. It’s clear that those who want to repeal the ACA are prioritizing their own political ambitions over the best interests of our nation’s small business owners.”

When: Geraldine Aglipay is available for interviews this week and next. Illinois small business owners are also available for interviews.
