Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority:

The House of Representative's passage today of H.R. 5297, the bipartisan Small Business Jobs Act, is a major victory for small businesses across the country in need of financial relief. Soon, small businesses will have the opportunity to focus on doing what they do best, strengthening the economy and putting America back to work.

America's 28 million small businesses have been hit especially hard during this deep recession. This legislation will help tackle some of the fundamental problems they currently face, a lack of access to loans and a heavy tax burden. The provisions in the bill to increase lending and cut taxes, coupled with tax equity for the self-employed to help them afford health insurance and other business expansion incentives, will do more to help small businesses regain their economic footing than any single piece of legislation has in years.

We commend the House for following the Senate's recent action and supporting small businesses, and we look forward to the bill being signed into law. Congress' willingness to come together on this issue couldn't have come at a more critical time for those struggling in this tough economy.
